Descent from Ragner Lodbrok

The Skioldung Dynasty is one of the oldest in Europe and the Royal Houses of Denmark and Sweden can trace their descent from Ragner Lodbrok in the 8th century.

The lines of descent from Ragner Lodbrok are verifiable but there are records of varying reliability  which follow the Scandinavian line even further back to Skiold, hence the origin of the name of the dynasty. Skiold was held to be the son of Odin (Woden, the God of War of northern mythology).
