Yusupov (Youssoupov): ЮСУПОB

The Princes Yusupov

The Yusupov Palace, St Petersburg
The family of the Princes Yusupov is descended from the Princes of Nagai and trace their origins to Ahabek-Kerei Dok, master of a domain whose descendants were rulers in various places, among which Egypt. A descendant of Ahabek-Kerei, Prince Musa, had a son Yusuf, from whom is descended the Yusupov family, which has served the Russian Throne in noble positions and were granted several fiefdoms and awarded with Orders and other tokens of the Sovereign's favour.
The line of Hereditary Commanders became extinct in the male line in 1979 with the demise of the 5th Commander, Prince Nikolai Dmitrievich.
