On a Maltese Cross arg and encircled by the collar of the Order
of St John with its pendant:
Per fess, gu the head and neck of a bear* arg, and vair; debruised by a bend ondy
or charged with four barbs placed bendwise 2 and 2; overall an inescutcheon az
charged with a double headed eagle sa each head crowned with an imperial crown
or and a third imperial crown above, its claw dexter holding a sceptre or and
its sinister an orb of the same, the eagle charged on its breast with an
inescutcheon az bordured or, inscribed with the Kirillic letter H and the figure
1 to indicate Emperor Nicholas I.¹
