Bariatinsky (Boriatinsky): БAΡЯΤИНСКЙ

The Princes Bariatinsky

The Bariatinsky family is descended from Rurik, the founder of the Royal House of Novgorod, through the Grand Princes of Kiev, St Vladimir Sviatoslavich, the Christianiser of Russia, Yaroslav Vladimirovich, Sviatoslav Yaroslavich, Prince of Chernigov. Sviatoslav was the direct ancestor of Prince Alexander Andreevich, the first to carry the Bariatinsky name and from whom the Princes Bariatinsky are descended. The family distinguished themselves in the service of the Russian Throne and were granted several important fiefdoms.
